SD-8 Startup and Training Program


This is a service provided at additional cost to the customer. The SD-8 is typically shipped to the job site and installed by the customer with the required conduit and alarm circuits as described below. The startup personnel will complete installation at time of arrival. Complete installation is available at additional cost, if desired by the customer.

Items covered in startup and training:

  1. Transportation, food, and lodging for startup personnel to and from startup location and during training are included in startup price.

  2. Customer furnishes previously run and previously identified and marked alarm wire pairs for each trip circuit being monitored. Wires should be run inside conduit from alarm location to inside SD-8 enclosure. Wires should be three feet long inside SD-8 enclosure. Preferred wire size 18 to 22 gauge twisted copper wire pair. The length of run would determine the wire size selected.

  3. Startup personnel will make the physical connections of the alarm pairs to the appropriate SD-8 terminal block, in addition to setup and checkout of the SD-8 system.

  4. Training of the customer in the operation and proper use of the SD-8 system will include:
    a. How to install and change telephone numbers
    b. How to install and change alarm messages
    c. How to setup and operate ID codes
    d. How to access the SD-8 from a remote location

  5. Operational checkout of alarm contacts and the SD-8 system to ensure proper operation will be performed by the startup personnel. The proper operation of the alarm devices and related wiring is the responsibility of the customer.

  6. The physical hookup of the alarm contacts, operational checkout of the system and familiarizing the customer with the operation and capabilities of the SD-8 system generally takes one day.

  7. The customer will make arrangements to have 115 volt A/C duplex receptacle available near the unit. This duplex receptacle should be dedicated for use of the 12 volt D/C power supply and should be on a separate breaker. The customer shall arrange for TOUCHTONE7 telephone service to be activated prior to checkout of the system.
