ID-8 Microprocessor Removal and Replacement


HOW TO DO:

Step 1. Turn off the power to the ID-8.

Step 2. Unplug one lead of the large battery.

Step 3. Remove the existing interface board.

a. Carefully remove the three attached ribbon cables.
b. Unscrew two screws which hold the board in place.
c. Remove existing board.

Step 4. Pry one end of the microprocessor partially loose with a small flat blade screwdriver, then the other end. Install new microprocessor with Pin #1 to RIGHT or outside edge of the main board. There is a recessed dot or notch on the old microprocessor. This is the side where Pin #1 resides. On the new microprocessor, the arrow points to the recessed dot or notch and also points to the RIGHT or outside edge of the board (same configuration as the old processor chip ) when properly installed.

Step 5. Install the interface board.

a. Install board.
b. Reinstall two screws.
c. Reattach the three ribbon cables.

Step 6. Reconnect power and test circuit to confirm that relay turns on just prior to alarm call out.

Step 7. Please place the removed (old version) microprocessor in the plastic box, repackaging the old microprocessor and return to H & R Electronics, 1050 Highway 174, Danielsville, Georgia 30633. Should you have any questions please call our office 706.789.2915 for assistance.
